The Worst Way To Die
Genre: AnyRules: What would be the world's worst way to die? Would it involve turtle wax, a lampshade, and Andy Dick? You decide! Do your worst!!!
I really liked this. Great effects. Nice topical joke (twitter). The acting was really good, ESPECIALLY the devil. Did you do a little mini-greenscreen action on the over the shoulder computer shot? I think the guy at e4h computer might have been a little out of focus in the shots from the first angle. Other than that, very technically solid, too. (really could be the compression making it blurry) Great entry, guys!

You guys really went all out with this one! Great job on all the locations. The acting (except the store clerk, but I get the impression he wasn't one of your "actors") was all really top notch. Really good story line. The security camera shot was a brilliant touch. The loud hum of the coolers was a little loud. I might have turned that down and used the voice audio from another take (if you had it). The tip jar said "Show us you tips right after he peaked at her cleavage. Btw, he cleavage was a little off center. Maybe that would have been an uncomfortable thing to discuss with her, but I definitely would have had her straightened her boobs out. Haha. I especially liked the shot outside looking down his gun, before he shot her. Couple things seemed out of focus, mainly the close ups in the office. After she was shit, I could not see the bottle or her purse she dropped. The color on the line "you're so going to hell" was way off. Also, I didn't really like the delivery of that line. That is one risk when going with a big idea like this. You are exposed to more opportunities for imperfections. Well worth the risk, and in the end, the payoff was great. This was my vote for the week. A++ for effort. Cannot wait to see more of your entries.
I forgot to say how much I liked the idea of him reaping her soul. Reminded me of "Dead Like Me".
i just now read the other reviews and am glad to hear you are continuing this. I meant to mention that I noticed "to be continued".
We had to lose the take in post of the mugger grabbing the purse and running past the champagne bottle (which we broke later...I decided not to have Sarah lay down in stickey goop and broken glass for several reasons.) So much that we wanted to do we cut before shooting, and so much got hacked up in edit to make the three minute time limit...the extended version is going to involve all 4 filmfights together (with the deleted scenes) and be given to my actors and crew as my sincerest thanks.
Thank you all for your comments! the good, the bad, we really do appreciate them. We only get better by doing and listening!
This was one of the weirdest entries I have seen. I enjoyed it, but, even after several viewings, I never really figured it out. Was it all the same guy, or do your actors look a lot alike? Aside from the actor(s), the whole thing looked fabricated in Photoshop or something. This made it very intriguing. What the heck was with the guy flying the canon??? At one point, I think there was a car that had a canon on the front of it, too. Haha. The dialog was a little hard to hear and understand. This was just nuts!
Short and sweet and a great joke. I think this one was HW quality. The joke was topical and funny. Was the Demon standing further back than the angel? This was my LW vote (lucky for you the Charming New Society one was late.)
This was a nice little follow up to the Angel vs Demon entry. I definitely like the other part better, but I think that's what you were going for. I think Jesus should have had more lines. Still a good job.
Well, this was cool, but goddamn is was long. I think you could have cut out a lot of the beginning. I like the camera work outside. The wind on the second outside scene could have been cut out. The little fires starting as Satan walked in was a nice subtle touch. The fake avangelistic TV ttielwork was convincing. I liked the chots from behind the camera (although I think one would have done it). You could have used some suplimental lighting in the office to compliment the existing lights. The actual line "you are so going to hell" gets cut off abruptly in an edit. Hell was done GREAT! It sounds like you filmed it in a small room, though. That Devil make up was freaking amazing. The acting was very good throughout. Especially for how wordy the dialog was. The was a super awesome flick. Needed to be cut down, some. Even if it was not in the fight, I think it would have been paced better as 4:30min movie. That, some extra lights in the office, and touching up some of the audio would have made this movie perfect imo. I still really, really liked it. I voted before this was submitted, or I would have voted for this.
You know the thing about length is that we ignore the notion of "internet attention spans", quite intentionally. 6 minutes may be long for an internet film, but it isn't intrinsically long for a short film in general. We've all seen 10, 15, 30 minute shorts. The problem with the length I think was in running over the set time for the fight. We did in fact cut it down from closer to 10 minutes, but really wanted to keep intact the bulk of the Paster's speech to set up his ideologies and foreshadow the characters who appear in his personalized Hell. Anyway, thank you for being constructive with your critique on some of our technical issues such as sound, lighting, and editing. We did recognize these problems and worked around them the best we could at the time. Thanks so much for the compliments on the acting, story, and especially the makeup fx (which we are continually practicing as it is an area of interest we love, both related to filmmaking and aside from it). You "would-be" vote means a lot as well. Glad your enjoyed it!
Bytheway, you mentioned the titlework for the evangelist's show... you can actually call that number and leave a message. Love to hear some of you guys interact with the character. :)
Ha! Are you serious? That is awesome!
