"Unraveled" by Glossy Finish Pictures - Reviewed on October 24th, 2009

Glossy!!! Your big unveiling at film fights! Congrats on the HW. Love the acting in this. Your audio is tremendously loud but that may add to the humor. Loud loud mummy. I think you spelled 'unraveled' wrong.

I think this could have used some POV shots from the mummy, so we can really see just how frustrating trying to pick up the coffee is. Would make it more sympathetic to the poor guy.

Love the acting from the sneeze guy. Great fake sneeze, and he had good comedy timing / facial expressions. Though he DOES smile at the end, which kinda ruins that moment, ha. Just noticed that.

You should be sure to turn off 'auto iris' on your camera as well, if possible. You can see how the exposure keeps changing since the mummy is so white. Looks funky / unprofessional.

Would have added some ambient noise behind the shot of the TP stuck in the door. Maybe the mummy going "Grrrr!"

I hope you really yelled FUUUCKKKKK that loud in the supermarket, ha!

Ha, this gave me a good laugh. Though I did kind of get tired of (yes, you can get tired of something after 30 seconds) of him saying "FUCK", you couldn't have come up with any other word for him to curse haha? Overall a fun enjoyable video.

"The VAIDS" by Sometimes Funny - Reviewed on October 24th, 2009

This was Mike and Is film! Mike wrote a funny script. Was super super happy with the shoot on this. Kari is great as the doctor - Mike is perfectly sickly for a vampire, haha. We shot this partially at Next New Networks for the waiting room scene, and partially at Mike's apartment (wish we had a plastic sheet to put in front of the kitchen, oh well).

Should have applied the makeup more evenly too. The shot at the end was a 'blooper' but Mike looked so happy and creepy, and it's such a goofy expression I felt it added to it.

Lit the whole thing with just random lamps, I didn't do any color correction on this, though maybe I should have. I liked the 'realistic' fly on the wall sort of feel and the footage right out of the camera looked fine to me.

Mike's fangs kept drooling all over Kari's hair, ha!

Anyway, VOTE FOR US! Or else.

Glad you threw in that last shot. It's what sold me on the whole video.

"Period" by Synaptic TV - Reviewed on October 24th, 2009

Haha, Olivier. So gross. I hope girl's done actually talk like this. I think the shot where you leap at them could have been hand held for more impact, since the whole thing is so simple otherwise, on the tripod. Really punch in the IMPACT of that moment. The blood spraying is hilarious.

I would have also kept zooming closer and closer to the vampire as the girls keep talking - build up the tension there.

Haha, did you re-render a special intro for yourself with red lights for this? :D

Haha, all your expressions are so great.

I should have had you remove the credits at the end, or at least make them a single frame or something. You can always resubmit and it'll refresh your file and keep all your views, votes, etc. Also, your text looks all funky in the background.

Anyway, fun entry!!! Always a treat to have ya in here :D

"C.A.S.H.E.W. TV Spot" by Procoverage Studio - Reviewed on October 24th, 2009

LOVE the quality of the VO as the hooded guy is speaking.

I would have put an overlay during the 'satisfied customer' portion - like put the video in a smaller box with background and something that said the vampires name or whatever. I like the voice modulation you did on him. Sounds cool. Wish the quality was as good as the hooded guy speaking though - why not use the same mic? Would have punched in a bit more light, but it's also funny that he's shrouded in so much darkness, haha.

Text and graphics are simple, but that's what it needed. I love the font you used. Feels very much like this sort of thing. Rockin' !! I give this a B+ !

I was going for the sleazy mid-day advertisement feel. For the hooded guy, all I did was speed up my own voice to 120%. The hooded guy was easy to dub since you didn't see his mouth, but with the vampire, I was afraid of all the "dubbing criticism" I got before in previous movies. I agree the vamp should have been better lit. My lighting on "Special Delivery" still remains the best since I actually drug around a TV and dialed in the settings while looking at the TV before I shot.

I think since the vampire wasn't lit very well, you could have totally got away with dubbing the voice! Anyway, it's not like his voice was hard to hear so it's no big deal

"Monster Mishaps" by arrowheadss - Reviewed on October 24th, 2009

Your aspect ratio is all weird on the FF intro. Looks like it's zoomed in and off-center! I love the shot of the moon. Very cool. I also think it's pretty funny seeing the actor play both parts. Looks like an indy mogul effect for the werewolf? That nose is super crazy looking. I think this could have used a quick shot of his eyes as he's changing, something to drive home the concept that he's changing and morphing.

The shot of him at the end goes too long - I'd also like to see the girl's reaction to him changing before just screaming and running away. Could have used some more lighting. I like the monster growl sound effect.

But yeah - let's see what ya do next time! I like your spirit!

Thanks so much!
The werewolf effect was inspired by the indymogul one! I love that show!
we just used some nose putty and crepe hair! pretty simple!
Thanks again for your review and tips!
Can't wait for the next fight!

"Mummy Breakfast" by JnAStudios - Reviewed on October 24th, 2009

Aspect ratio is all screwy! Make sure you always render out to a 640x360 file to avoid that. I like the mummy sounds in this one ... and actually seeing him drink the coffee looks great - smearing all over, haha. I like that you defined a very simple problem for him.

All in all, not up there with the HWs this week, but a cute idea for sure. Thanks for your entry! We will be having the LW vote-off in the forums

Mummy Breakfast was simple and clever, for that I really really appreciate it as a film. It's not crazy interesting and engaging, but I felt that for how slow paced it was, and really for how little was going on, it kept my attention.

Ha, you guys! Breakin' the rules!!! Jeremy is hilarious with that knife. Hilarious and SCARY. You guys have some great bad acting, haha. I love puns. Haha - swimming pools! This could have used some text overlays on the screen to make it feel more informercially. Anyway, love to see fun LW entries made just for the heck of it.

Camera quality on this is pretty good. I especially like the handheld over the shoulder shot ... but I had to re-render this and fix up the aspect ratio for you since it was screwy. <3 u guyz

"MonsterDiscrimination" by EmmerekEntertainment - Reviewed on October 24th, 2009

LOVE THE MUSIC ON THIS ENTRY! It's a bit too loud though. Where the heck did the butterfly in the background come from at the start of the film? It looks awesome, hah. Didn't notice it the first time, but yeah, it's surreal. You've got a lot of problems with your lighting changing from shot to shot. Even your color temperature is changing. (meaning whites and darks look diff in diff angles). LOVE the random kid with the drawn on facial hair for no reason, haha.

When the monster gets knocked down he should be whimpering or something. Odd that he's just quiet. You should check out some better stock footage for that gun over at DetonationFilms.com - also there's a short glitch in the video when your lead is putting the gun back in his shirt. Then after that some kind of glitch in the color correction. Also, whatever kind of monster you used ... I have no idea what it is. It's not a werewolf or a standard Halloween beastie.

Love the early bird line - actually very funny delivery on it too.

To wrap up - music is pitch perfect, but too loud, lots of stuff going on here which is good - shows you have some producing chops. You went a bit over time limit, which should have been easy to fix. Looking forward to what you can whip up next!!!

"Interview With Gaypire" by The Cove Shorts - Reviewed on October 24th, 2009

I love the lighting in the interview segment. That vampire reminds me a bit of Nick Cage. I love that you dubbed in the "OOH LETS ATTACK HIM!" - something surreal and silly about it. I'm sure those teeth were fucking up your audio.

I'm not sure how we go from the interview segment to the vampires on the street. I guess that's what they do in interview with a vampire? Been so long since I've seen it. Also, your posterframe has the accursed interlacing :/

This was cool though. I give it an A- !

Yeah, I think the original is pretty funny --- even if we don't know what he's saying there's something just goofy about vampire-teeth-talk. Felt the same with our entry. More fun with the mumbling.

"Urggguuughhhhh!" by Dont Ask - Reviewed on October 25th, 2009

First off - AWESOME poster frame! Very tricky, keying out the purple. Thought this was a cute idea - but one shot and a cute idea does not a heavyweight make! Yannowhat. I'm just glad to have your smilin' face on the front page :D

Maybe you could have expanded the whole idea of 'dating a mummy' - shown a handful of other situations (what's he like in bed? taking out the garbage? on a double date?)

"Kyle Has A Secret" by Clarity Prevails Productions - Reviewed on October 25th, 2009

Technically, this was pretty sound. I like that he's very sad about the garlic. The voice over audio sounds like and crisp. LOVE the church shot at the end. I like the read of the last line. Just wasn't sold on the commercial ... it's anti-depressants for vampires? What's the catch, they're just super super strong anti-depressants? Does Abilify come in a pill? A shot? Do you find it in the church? I see a 'before' shot but not too much of an 'after' shot of how Amplify will change this dude's life.

This would be a 'middleweight' for me. (ps sorry about all the technical quibbles about getting it on the site!!)

"Retuuuurn" by GiveMeBackMySon - Reviewed on October 26th, 2009

Great poster frame! Too bad you squished the graphics on the FF intro. What happened to the GIVEMEBACKMYSON!! audio clip? That was like my fav thing ever.

Audio quality is a bit inconsistent on this - why does the zombie sound so good but the guy on the phone sounds all blown out? I like the music in the background. "Noooo!" poor zombie. Would have loved to see more blood when he attacks the guy - maybe just a smidge of 'aftermath' - how are the other people in line reacting?

This was a tough one to decide on HW or LW. If people feel I am wrong you can always petition in the forums. Dude, it's awesome to see GMBMS again!!!!!
