Overall I'd say this is a well made entry. The visual effects are decent and your actor is very good, but honestly the audio is not spectacular. I didn't know he was saying "summon minion option" until about my 4th viewing.
I like the idea of a single story being told across multiple filmfights, I honestly can't wait for your 'To the Death!' entry.
Thank you Alffarr! We were tryin to get a 'tinny" ududi feel...like what you would hear from a PDA or Iphone, but we also had to compress the sound slightly due to time...it made it go by quicker than I would have originally liked.
I am pretty stoked for the "To the Death " fight as well...but now have to do a re-write to figure out where the new mini-fight will fit into all of this!
Very cool, I like how you managed to get that handheld feel at a lego man scale. I'm digging the VO as well, and the ending is pretty much perfect.
The only downside is that some of the shots felt like they repeated, or were just the same thing form a slightly different angle. I would have loved to have seen more variety in them.
The compositing at the beginning was a bit shaky, but overall the effects were pretty good. The idea of a totalitarian regime devoted to forcing it's subjects to wear straw hats is delightfully absurd.
Well, I really liked the concept on this one. I agree with others who say it could have used some shot variety, mainly because it seems like your cat loses interest in the camera a few times, and some military-esque background music would have really made this one great. The ending was a bit abrupt as well.
Check out http://musopen.com/ they have alot of songs by the US Navy marching band that have a good military feel.
I like the idea of this being a children's show from Orwell's 1984, very cool idea. Honestly, I can't understand a word of this though, other than "Even if they're your parents!"
I think it would have been worth it to re-record your voice for this one. The concept is great, just work on your execution more and you'll be golden. (not literally.)
I think this is a prime example of how good sound design can really make a video. The script is great, and this is probably the most 'Propaganda'-ish submission out of all of them. The hostess is well spoken and confident, but the cutaways seem to slow down the pace because they have no sound whatsoever. It's very possible that your editing program dosen't allow precise sound design, and in that case I would recommend you download Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/), then play the video without sound and preform the sound effects live, in time with the video. It might take a few tries, but Foley is a good skill to have anyways. Most people use the same resources for sound fx, if you learn to make your own it will give your video a unique feel in people's minds and help bring them into the 'world' that you're trying to create. Combine that with some sweet, simple background music and you have great sound design.
And I said video 4 times, sorry.
