Awesome. This is definitely in my top 3 fav heavies.
Don't mind me focusing on the downsides of this movie so much in this review. It was just that good.

::spoiler alert::
I originally had negative feelings on the usage of the "Glerk" alien race name being thrown around before the big reveal. It definitely foreshadowed the reveal, and that's a big necessity, so that changed my mind.

I LOVED how the big reveal came right when he broke down and started crying. Before that, I was expecting this to be a possible farewell message from a father to a son before going to war in Iraq or something, but the reveal was sweet.

If I were shooting this idea, I would have had the baby obstructed/bundled up the whole time. Playing with a doll when it's supposed to be real kinda took me out of the surrealism of the movie.

My biggest complaint with this movie is that you wrote at the very end that this was an M Night movie at the end. NO! This is YOUR movie. I know it's in his style, but don't give him credit when he had nothing to do with it. That's hurting yourself in my opinion.

"If You Close Your Eyes" by Skitzo Studios - Reviewed on June 19th, 2010

Loved this one. Probably a tossup between this and the Answering Machine for my fav one this fight. Acting was superb, especially for the old man. When he yelled at the son and said "Aren't you paying attention!" that even made me jump and say "That's a dad right there."

I also liked how you completely reversed the concept of a person leaving home and made it into home leaving him. Brilliant.

The only thing that I think could have made this better would be if you actually recreated the flashback stills as video you recorded yourself, but considering the timeframe you had to make this in, I can understand why you didn't. If these photos were actually from a family album, that's even more touching.

I'm only 25, and this video makes me even think about things I grew up around that aren't there anymore. It's amazing how fast the world changes.

The photos at the end are actual family photos. That's really my Mother and Father, and that goofy kid on the trike at the end is, yep, me, the old man!
Thanks for your kind comments
