The Worst Way To Die
Genre: AnyRules: What would be the world's worst way to die? Would it involve turtle wax, a lampshade, and Andy Dick? You decide! Do your worst!!!
This is the video I made. It didn't take too long, and Pervis had an amazing performance. I've always called him the 'Sean Penn of hamsters' and he really lived up to that billing in this film.
Always good stuff from you Rigdon. My only quabble is I wish you had more blood so it would be obvious to the casual viewer. I only caught it the second time I watched. I also wish I understood why he's been shot or why he's cocking the gun - is he going out for revenge? I suppose that's the only real option - maybe if it was 1) man laying on the ground, bleeding 2) shot of the dude who shot the man, walking away assuming he's dead 3) man on the ground cocks the gun, fires it.
Cute little 3 shot concept. The haiku itself was pretty funny, I don't totally understand the last shot, but I assume it was you stuffing cereal down your pants.
My favorite part about this one is the zoom in on the car hitting the duck and the sound effect, even though I would have rathered it didn't quasi-break the rules (if you did a fake 'zoom in' to the car crashing instead of a cut). Voiceover sounds nice too, I was wondering who did it. Is Alastair really from the UK??
Olivier!!!! I loved this film ... the random goofiness of it was delightful, and the fact the dude just puts on the helment without questioning it at all ... hilarious ... the perfect things about this was that you didn't even make the 5-7-5 seem forced, it looks like completely natural cuts. Fantastic work.
I can relate, no one likes the drunken puking and the sickness. I feel more shitty when I wake up after a night of getting krunk rather than before I go to bed. Getting up after drinking a bunch of beer is practically guarenteed chuckin' the next day. Voice over worked well, too. Interesting choice of effect for that last shot.
Good solid shots for everything, I especially like how we don't really see you, we just kind of see all the events that suck. The last shot of going out the door is nice, as well as the music (except for the end drum beats, didn't really need those, and I wish you chose an actual screen shot from the movie :P )
GRIFFIN! It's absolutely wonderful to have you back. Really awesome video too - did you make those beats yourself? When I first watched it, I thought, "hmmm" worried you were breaking the rules with all the talking, then watched again and was like "damn, that's right on!" and was even more impressed with the video. Great shots, great color correction, very nice overall.
I know I co-erced you into making this, so I'm sorry it went Lightweight. I think that the second set of 7 shots fits together nicely, but the mountain lion at the end, and the intro 5 shots, just didn't jive with the requirements. Maybe if you would have made it a little more mysterious, with some creepy music could have worked better. The shots were decent enough.
I liked your voice over - makes me wish I would have gone for VO in mine instead of text. Great delivery too, especially on the last line. The music is spot-on as well, seems to follow your words. As for the exact shots themselves, seems odd that there's one dude in the first two and then another in the last. I would have rather seen a baby sitting in a field, then a man, then an old person in the final shot. But it's not bad how it is now.
I enjoyed this one quite a bit, it's got a very odd, creepy feeling to it. Was that fade out at the end supposed to be like a film burn? Curious as it how you did that effect. I assume it was just some kind of gradient transition ... "foretell the coming of our departure" is a fun little phrase.
Some really good shots in this --- are you from New York? I especially like the last shot, with the photos swiping by. It's like a very crafty way of getting a couple shots out of one. Music sounds original, but it's not distracting in any way. Solid overall.
Interesssssttting music ... I like the idea that you used the three shots to make a three part joke, but I could barely hear the punchline - could have been a good idea to re-dub it.
This one is sort of odd. I like the freeze-frame shot, but it would have liked it more if the words would have zoomed more in-sync with the digital zooming. The 'jad' intro wording coming in looks rather silly too.
I'll have to check out this 'Canker' thing ... is it trying to put the internet in real life or something along those lines? That lemonade looks pretty tasty.
