My favorite part was when the geeky guy on the left starts talking to the waitress in Chinese and she doesn't understand a word he's saying... or maybe it was the look on the face of the geeky guy on the right when he was trying to bribe her... or maybe it was the fact that in the end it was the blond, blue-eyed anglo guy who was the only one who could read Chinese well enough to know about the monster and how to get it back into the container.
I am a huge fan of 1950s SF, including It Came From Outer Space, and so I totally loved the way the attack sequence was seen from the viewpoint of the monster. Excellent camera work! Wait... I was lying before... the attack sequence... THAT was my favorite part. Oh... and also the special effects... especially the glowing monster... they were my favorite part too.
I think I recognized some of the cast members in this one from a film noir DVD I own entitled M is for Motley. Awesome special features... highly recommended... anyone who enjoyed It Came From The Chinese Restaurant and it's take on monster movies will love M is for Motley's take on Film Noir.
The dialogue needed to be boosted a lot- the music was a little overpowering at times.
Kudos for shooting in an actual restaurant. Thats hard to pull off.
Many of the cuts didnt flow that well. It seemed like some shots were just thrown in there at random.
Overall, excellent idea and very fun to watch, however, the ending was a bit of a let down.
This one gets my vote for the week. Lucky for you to get to film in an actual restaurant, so you basically had to take what you could get lighting-wise. But the camera effects and sounds of the monster out of the box chasing the guys was great, very good job. Also liked how you only had to replace the lid to return the monster back. Only suggestions I would have would be to work on your lighting some more in the areas that you can control it, like at the house. Overall good job and you get my vote for this week.
I\'ve gotta tell ya -- this one made me crack UP. The audio\'s a little spotty, but mad props for location. \"Yeah.. I don\'t speak Chinese\" ... haha! I also liked the effects.. good stuff! \"That was easy!\" :) I can\'t wait to see more from you guys!
