It was so jumpy and the lighting really wasn\'t good. I couldn\'t make out any of the characters until the outside filming at the end.
I'm sorry the video on this one was so terrible. This was my first stab at directing and editing, and I had some complications when it came time to compress. Anyway, if I do another one (possibly I will) I will try to get the video much cleaner and use much better lighting.

Now, down to the nitty gritty.
The video resolution is quite bad on this one. There are several reasons for this, worst of which being my lack of understanding when it comes to editing. To simplify, one track is best, as opposed to several tracks with only the important one visible. Problem here is bandwidth bandwidth bandwidth. All that bandwidth must be compressed later on, and since the computer isn't going to distinguish which one is important and which one isn't, the whole project suffers when the bandwidth is too high. When I first exported this file, it was about 240ish megs. Unfortunately, WHEN we [compressed to 10 megs], the video suffered A LOT. It was made very dark (which I was able to fix with brightness and contrast filters) and the images were blurred and distorted. (Perhaps a color mask would have helped here? I am still learning about that). The sound was tolerable, but there are some cuts where I realize that I REALLY should have used a mic. Yes, I have a strong voice and can project to the camera well enough, but quiet dialogue is just lost if you use the camera mic. Leson learned.
So that's the tech bit ...
The film itself is about a galactic hitchhiker, Floyd, a German director, Octavia, an Intel Agent for a secret agency building trashy houses, and a spiritual advisor that travles distant planets preventing wars all over the galaxy. Now, the contest wanted us to tell about ourselves (a behind the scenes take-off) so I did, through the TEXT that scrolls while we are playing our parts. My idea here was to create this off-the-wall and completely insane story that has NOTHING to do with us, then tell about us while the audience watched us act out these parts.

Again, thank you all for the feedback. Part 2 is in the works now (writing stage) and all 4 of us are actually excited about getting it on film. With your feedback and critique, we all hope to get something better loaded next time. To date, we have a mic (2 actually), a troop of lights, and are designing sets. Hopefully, it only gets better from here, right ?
More lights. Think about investing in an external mic. Because the sound was hard to hear/lights were dim, I didn\'t quite grasp everything. I bet people won\'t be able to fully realize what you were trying to capture, and that\'s a shame. I thought the scenes with Cara were funny when you said she likes to talk. I did not quite get the entire concept of what you were going for, but I take it this is probably one of your first attempts. Overall, great work. Keep on coming out and getting better!! I really liked your talent in this. It looks like you guys had a fun time!
Grade: C-
Kind of lost in this one. The poor lighting and audio lessens the quality of the film quite a bit. I still am cofused... well it matches it\'s title.
An interesting take on the \"behind the filmfights\" idea, you\'re trying to not just give us a general background of your group, instead you\'re trying to add some interesting story background and descriptions of your film group.
Looks like you had some compression problems that resulted in some video pixelating and also takes away from the lighting of your film.
One suggestion I would have is to limit the crawl of your descriptive text over the entire scene, it felt a little distracting, to me at least.
Keep on filmfighting!!!
wholy shit. this was creepy. i dont know of thats what you were going for, but with the lights, makep, weird music, and low lighting, it wind up being pretty spooky. haha...not really much here to review, but for some reason i dug it.
the low lighting worked for the creppy thing, but i still would have liked it to have been btter lit. sorry, lighting is just my pet peeve.
Very weird having the titles come up during the actual video itself, especially in a scroll. I would have suggested the normal \'appearing at the bottom of the screen\' thing. Scrolling, especially upwards, is frankly very weird.
The light quality is terrible. Just terrible. Please go in and tweak a couple things in premiere to liven it up a bit, it\'s not too tricky.
I like the general style of the video, but all the text vomited all over the front of the screen, it\'s just totally incoherant and weird. Your actors aren\'t too bad, definately potential here, but you should try something that actually makes sense next time.
Hi,
Thanks for all of the constructive comments on our movie. As you can obviously tell, it was our first attempt. We will definitely work on lighting, compression, sound and a bunch of other things. Hopefully the next one will be a bit better.
But our stories are still going to be a bit quirky and weird, so ...
Anyway, thanks again for all the feedback. None of you were nasty, but respectful, and I really appreciate that.

If you really read behind the absurdity-many psychological theories are answered. (or was that psycho theories??) call 1880-psychme and we will work thourgh it! Kudo's to our diector Nick! He made lemonade out of all the lemon's he was handed, all throughout production. he worked with me for hours on some tricky dialogue-all of which ended up on the cutting room floor, so you never got to see all the work he put in as our director. Our set posed challenges of it's own. This was meant to be all in jest We wanted you to view it and go UMMM! This isn't thelast time you will se us! Thank you for being constuctive--but lighten up! this is Filmfights-not Sundance.
YOU ARE GETTING VERY SLEEPY..... sleepy.... sleepy.....
