This seems like an old school Five Clover Film. It was interesting but very old school. I think you guys have gotten sooo much better compared to this film.
Actors were interstingly, unconfortably-lookingly posed. Music fades very quickly. Too many still shots make for... well, long shots. And still long shots are kinda boring. Ooh, a real-looking fight scene. With sound effects! It\'s good! Eeew blood. Good, you used lighting outside. Make it more nighttime-outside next time.
Sometimes you come up with an idea and story for a film and you go over everything so many times to make it perfect that the plot is seamless to you. However when it\'s done and edited a lot of things that you :know: need to be inferred by the audience, and it happens more often than would be liked that that inference doesn\'t take place. Everything made sense, just motivations were lacking for me. The film was pretty well done from a technical aspect, now work on getting the viewer hooked into the story.
wow. cate. good job. this is a strong entry. for some reason this plays very quiet on my computer. again, props on the fight scene. that was very realistic. i dont think i have seen a fight sequence pulled off this good ever on film fights. good luck!
It\'s Cate\'s entry from Sojourner Films, of which I was an assistant director on. So I won\'t be doing any sort of review here, instead I\'ll just provide some behind the scenes info.
This was filmed on two cameras, the Sony HVR-Z1U and Sony HCR-DC1000 (for the outside shots). We thought it was a cool effect to turn on the inside (blue) filter for the daytime shots, to give a different type of effect as the drugs are revealed.
My favorite shot is when Johnny is outside looking into the house and cracking his knuckles!! Very effective in establishing what the character is about to do.
The fight scene turned out really well, the neck-cracking sound effect is the best! Thanks to Gabrielle for planning out the fight.
Good job to Cate and thanks to everyone who helped out with this film!! MIKE M.
overall i liked this film, it kept to the time limit, if cat went over maybe it could of been explained better, but she kept it fair, good for her, audio got really low in places was the only problem i saw with this one.
aaron
The fight scene looked real because we worked for a LONG time to make it such. From the actors (self included) to the designer of the scene (Gabirelle) we can not tell you how great and welcome your praise on that aspect is. Also, MAJOR props to Louis for the editing. No single person takes credit for that scene. What makes it so good is that it was such a solid team effort.
This clip has some stumbling blocks, but was brought together very well in the end. My hat is off to ALL the crews that came together to produce this. Cate and I have discussed in great detail my reactions to this piece, both good and bad, and it needs go no farther than that. What is more important to me is to see that this many people of this many differing levels of experience came together and worked QUITE well to make a helluva production. From that vantage point, Good job, Cate.
