Hey Nick! Let me review your film and explain why I made it a lightweight.
So, I like the idea, I love that you did a documentary-style video. I think there are some pacing and dialogue problems. If it\'s a documentary it shouldn\'t sound like he\'s reading lines, I would suggest more improvising to make it seem more natural. Segments like the exercise go a bit long.
I\'d also suggest using more cutaway shots, even if you don\'t have two cameras, fake it ... we he\'s talking about the sketch you can layer over shots of the sketch, or get another angle that seems like it\'s from another camera.
You also want to shoot things like they\'re not being staged, so if someone burst into the room, we first see the character doing something, then we hear yelling, and with the character pan up to see where the yelling is coming from (since cameramen can\'t be psychic, yanno).
Nice stabbing effect at the end :) He should seem more upset before he actually kills himself! Sort of monotone through the whole scene. I think one of the best scenes is at the start when he\'s on the phone - I wish there would have been that level of intensity throughout. I also like the Godfather scene. You should have that Joe Pesci actor star in your next film. He\'s got PIZZAZZZ.
You brought a lot of characters in (and even Mark Walberg!! good impression), I like the costume changes as well. You put work and thought into this, I feel it was close but not quite a HW. I see big things for you guys next time! Just tighten up the editing a bit and replicate your chosen style better.
Alright thanks for the advice I\'ll definately have to fix that next time!
this was terrible with no semblance of a narative thought-_-
also it wasn\'t funny
While I agree with Justin\'s logic that this shouldn\'t have been a heavyweight this month (and I won\'t repeat it since I agree with most of it), this by no means should have been the only one. If there\'s only one lightweight in a month, then just don\'t have a lightweight category. It defeats the purpose.
i thought this was way better than at least one of the movie that got heavy weighted. this shitty one, i wont say which. it was almost as good as, and fit the time frame better than another. anyways, good acting. mostly improve? nice imac. i want. one of the dude, not the main guy, reminded me of timmy from the whitest kids u know. i literally laughed out loud at the mark wahlberg part. ha. i wish he would faked his accent a little, tho. its an easy one. (see andy sambergs impression via SNL mark wahlberg talks to animals) anyways, there was room for improvement. i think i mentioned before that it seemed improved. while it was good improving, it still SEEMED improved. also, i could hear your camera zooming in and out. and it made a whining noise. dont know it thats fixable, though. i do feel bad you got lightweighted. i think it was at least as deserving of HW as 2 of the other ones. maybe even ours, since we strayed way the fuck off the topic. (on purpose) ha. you better keep submitting. you guys RAWK!
shit. you can no longer edit or delete your review. please excuse my type-o's i usually prof read after the fact.
