Hey! So I was pleasantly surprised by this entry. I love him talking to his jacket at the start. It looks like you shot this very trickily ... every time you're both on screen, it's on a tripod. Methinks you're without a camera man and just being crafty! I respect that.
It's always cool to see the website on screen while I'm AT the website. The colors are great, what are you guys shooting on? I'm guessing maybe a HV30? Your audio is pretty good, is that just the mic off the camera or a boom mic of some kind?
Your focus is a bit off during the Jeffery scene. Guessing that happens because well, you don't have a camera person, haha. You guys have GREAT comedic timing and good on-screen chemistry. The old-timers around here may agree if I say you guys are sort of a UK version of the ol' On Rye LTD (a group that was also young and never failed to impress us.
"UNEXPECTED SCENE CHANGE" is great. Also, the VO audio is great. Also love the screwdriver voice over.
Found this very watchable for being nearly 6 minutes. LOVE your film group and I know we're going to see big stuff from you guys going forward!
Just wish you didn't put the credits at the end - doens't matter how fast it takes a make a film, it matters if it's a good idea and if it's executed well. You, in my opinion, had both.
Thanks Justin! Yup, no cameraman, just the two of us, a tripod and a rapidly sinking sun that made us really have to rush to get this one shot. :P
I use a Panasonic NV-GS500 (PV-GS500 in the US), which is a 3CCD camera that has really good colour and picture despite being a standard-def camera. We used a RODE Videomic mounted on top of the camera for sound.
I always always forget to focus! I need to write "FOCUS!!!" in big letters with a sharpie on the side of my camera or something, I do it every time! xD
I'm a big fan of On Rye LTD, so that's a huge compliment! Thanks a lot! :D
Sorry about the length, I never thought the film would be that long. But thank you very very much, we're definitely going to be entering more future Film Fights!
^^ oops
This was shot in SD? That's great - looks very good still. I'd always fake it on my GL1 and no one could really tell. Very tricky!
Very nice film, kept me wanting to watch the whole thing, very unusual for a short film, and very comedic. I also enjoyed the soundovers when you went back in time and the disco part as well. Good job guys! Hope to compete with you in the HW's soon!
Justin - yeah, it ain't bad for an SD camera :P
Dethbyinc - Thanks! I'll look forward to that! :D
I liked this, a scene that stayed with me was the scene where the one guy walks outside and sees himself. That was very well done. It did take a while to get to the point but I really enjoyed the ending "take his camera!" and the "unexpected scene change". the funnyest parts that made me laugh was the part when he sees himself 2 mins later and his past self says "no thats a cactus" and when the time machine says "you sons of bitches"
Thanks a lot Emmerek! Yeah, we definitely could have made this film shorter. Glad it made you laugh! xD
That was hilarious, great work guys. I really liked the whole "Halloweeeeeeen". I busted out laughing on that. Also I think it was great concept. Again, great job.
Great work, you guys. I totally know what it's like not to have a cameraman which really makes me appreciate how much work you guys must have put into this. It was a little bit of a slow starter for me and I think you could have cut it down a bit, but it was definitely great as is. I love the disco effect and the traveling back in time towards the end. A pretty solid entry. Good job!
Not having a cameraman sucks, especially when I forget to move the camera remote out of shot in the first scene! :P
Thanks for the advice, we gotta make it shorter next time! Glad you enjoyed it.
The fact it was almost 6 min long and totally watchable is a great testament to your writing and acting skills. I can't recall a film this long submitted by a newbie that I've liked so much in a long while.
Very basic direction, prob just you guys doing all crew work and placing cam on tripod? I've been there lol. Basic directing but the acting and chemistry is good so it works out ok.
Lots of great puns, love the over typing followed by the "dot com." HALLOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!
Ooo damn nice effect at 4:55, very nicely done. HAHAHAHA that creepy guy with the cam is fuckin great! "Just act natural!" Haha that really won me over. Great vid guys.
I'd hate to say this, its one of my most hated criticisms, maybe it was a tad long? Maybe could've trimmed it a bit.
Ugh, i'm a damn hypocrite.
I likes the elongated jokes, keep running with a joke until its unfunny and then if you keep running with it, it magically becomes funny again! Family guy and monty python do it all the time. I'm probably thinking of monty python because of your accents. Great job.
Haha! Man this was great! The story was really good and you guys seem really naturally talented with humor! I LOVE time travel concepts haha. I'm a Dr. Who geek. I hope we see more from you guys!
Cool screen shot! British people! White balance is a little off. Speaking of time, you could have sped this part up quite a bit. Feeling long. Good acting, for sure. Dialogue part at laptop needs more shot variety. OK, they are finally getting on with things. Ha. Whose this creepy dude with the ax? Dialogue is really good, and well delivered, but you needed to cut more of it out. Half way through the movie and not much is accomplished, so far. Yucky fade. More "yellowish" white balance inside. Kinda lost at why the screwdriver/time machine made the radio come on. Perhaps a sound effect or something would have been more appropriate. Ha. Only went back in time a few minutes. Pretty good, but way too long. You could have accomplished this idea in half the time, easy.
A bit late with the review I know but I had to give you the credit you deserved, very cool wee flick, very cool indeedy.
