The Expendables
Genre: AnyRules: You know that AMAZING ACTION movie coming out? Called "The Expendables"? We want your take on the TITLE of the movie; what else or who else is expendable? No action allowed.
Emmerek! So, I'm not going to lie, I was on the fence with this one. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVED it. especially the explosion at the end. You really freakin' sold that jump. I just wish you would have explained the world a bit more at the start --- even if it was a quick voice over that said "in a world overrun by turkeys..." to set it up without having to read the info.
I love the thumbnail graphic too. Cool to see people being more creative with them and using them as 'title cards' with credits and stuff like that.
The 'smoke' on the gun is a lot better than your first entry. Looks great, it's the extra little stuff like that that takes it to the next level.
"I've been bitten by a turkkkeyy!" haha, love this line
Would have liked to see some kind of muzzle flash or 'blood' sound effect when Jonny shoots Emmerek. I'm not sure why the turkeys are dropping bombs on people, but even a cheapy composited shot of you looking up at the sky and seeing a swarm of turkeys, or the sound of a thousand wings flapping ... SOMETHING to sell the story that these turkeys are dropping bombs. Or maybe it's the government dropping bombs to clear our all the 'infected'? Explanation at the end would be nice.
So congrats on your first HW!!! Don't think you can sit back and relax next time though, I'm still going to be picky as ever.
I rate this a B-
Unique and funny, mixing turkey into your parody of zombie cliche. The dialogue and music really sell the melodrama, and the use of good sound effects completes the environment.
That shot that you zoomed in - it looks like the last frame didn't get zoomed in, adding a little glitch to the video. I assume you zoomed it in to better frame the shot, which looks good, but obviously it would look better to get the shot right before the editing.
Great job. Premise is weird, vague and awesome. Compositing looked good, but a friendly suggestion to help "sell" the effect a little more would be to color correct the composited elements to match your scene, like the explosions. Great job though, love the style and sense of humor.
This is a good movie. It´s like zombie movie but zombies are now turkeys (and you don´t see the turkeys in the movie). Placing effects could be better and acting was ok. Good movie in half minute. 8/10
Explosion!
Haha, this wasn't a bad movie at all guys. I really wish you had some kind of zombie-like turkey come lurking out of the woods, that would have been great.
Keep submitting guys!
I heart Emmerek Entertainment. I can't even imagine what you guys are going to be doing in just a few years -- especially if you keep submitting!! I wish I would have started that young.
My brother was watching this and was like, "WHAT is this a bunch of kids -- and they're doing this already!"
Great idea -- my favorite part was when you had to shoot emmerek and his legs flopped in the air. Congrats on the Heavyweight!!
thanks a lot, were finally in the heavyweights. : D
I agree, this should be in the heavyweight section if solely based on the film itself (fair enough it was ten secs under). Well edited, great dialogue as Justin pointed out and genuinely funny - very tongue n' cheek.
you said the same thing about dead frog society's film... how disapointing

"Woo Hoo! Thank you to all of you who voted for our film. We are really excited as well as surprised by the win. With all the obstacles we faced in this fight we feared it wouldn't be as greatly acceptedd as it turned out to be.
We are very happy that we were able to fight our way up, with your help, from Middleweights to this. We are looking forward to the coming fights and hope we can continue producing quality films for your entertainment. Thanks for the compitition and we hope you all keep bringing it.
Special Thank You's: Audra - for helping on such short notice. Everyone who said we needed to be bumped up a weight class. Jake- For overseeing the whole operation in Justin's absence.
"That's a Wrap".
